This was the first Canon printer I've owned and am kicking myself for not buying Canons earlier. The S300 is very reliable and unlike most other printers, after purchase it continues to be economical. Unlike most Lexmark and Epson printers (which I'm most familiar with), the S300 uses ink cartridges that are independent of the printer heads, cutting their cost by nearly 75%. Aside from the economic benefits of it, this printer prints brilliant and crisp color that seems to mix perfectly with black ink. On some of my previous printers, the black spots in photos looked a little dull or out of place because of the color and quality of the ink. This printer, if used with Canon cartridges will produce beautiful pictures every time.
Then there are the added print features such as monochrome (which basically will print a black and white version of your picture), illustration (which will make your picture appear as if it had been drawn or painted), and other quality and color enhancing effects.
Overall, this is an outstanding printer that is more than worth every penny. If you're looking for a printer that will print a report or photo with little problem, this is the printer for you.

For printing standard office documents and glossy family craft projects, the Canon S300 printer delivers outstanding quality and value. Sized at just 10 by 15 inches, it was thoughtfully designed for comfortable use even in cramped home offices. (In this case, good things definitely come in small packages.)Color prints are churned out at up to 7.5 color pages per minute, with a color-saturated 2,400 x 1,200 dpi resolution. Canon's bubble-jet technology supplies 128 nozzles for each color, all of which originate from the same compact cartridge. Monochrome print jobs are processed at up to 11 pages per minute, and receive a letter-perfect 600 x 600 dpi resolution.
The S300 can produce exceptional, photo-quality prints, including edge-to-edge, 4-by-6-inch photos. Paper-handling possibilities include envelopes, transparencies, glossy photo sheets, and banners, as well as plain paper in letter and legal sizes. The printer connects to your system via a single USB cable, making installation simple and keeping your desk free of clutter.
