I am a 13 year old girl who knows minimal information about cameras. I spent hours on the internet researching to find an excellent camera for my purposes. I found about 3 cameras that are similar to this one, but the Canon Sure Shot 85 Zoom was the only camera that was in my price range, and had all of the desired features. I decided to purchase this camera, and to try it out. I took the camera to one of my friends houses, and I did a test roll. I took all types of pictures; light w/flash, light w/out flash, outdoor, real time (a feature that lets you take crisp action shots), self-timer (my favorite feature), and normal auto and auto with red-eye reduction. Then, I took the photos to be developed.I couldn't have been more pleased with the results! All of my pictures turned out wonderfully! The pictures were perfectly lit, they were crisp, and the indoor shots were great too. My real time shots would have turned out much better if I would have used a 400 speed film (like the manual suggested), rather then an 800. I only found one negative thing about this camera. For the red-eye to work properly, you need to look DIRECTLY at the camera, and this feature doesn't work well in self-timer mode. Also, I noticed that when the red-eye does work, it only works on those subjects with dark eyes. I would recomend this camera to anyone who wants wonderful pictures. It is a great deal for the money, and it takes excellent photos.Customer Review: Well Worth It

I purchased this camera about a year ago through Amazon.com after reading reviews of about a thousand different cameras. Almost everyone had something good to say about this one, and I must say that I totally agree. No camera I have ever had has taken better pictures, and I no longer worry about missing some great shots because of camera quality.I have never had any problems with it at all. Two of my friends own it as well, and they complement it as much as I do. It's fairly small and quite lightweight, which is always nice. The batteries last extremely long, which is good because the kind of batteries it takes are fairly expensive.
Something that most people might not realize is that it's extremely durable. I took it to Disneyworld with me, and while my cousin was taking it out of a backpack, she dropped it on the cement walkway. A piece broke off, and it got a few scratches, but what wouldn't when dropped from 4 feet above the ground? Even without the piece simply taped back on, the camera works just fine and I still haven't had any problems with it.
I strongly reccommend this to anyone who wants to have good pictures. I've never seen a better camera.

If you are looking for an inexpensive camera that takes excellent, versatile photos and is very easy to use, I have not seen a better one. I have been a semi-professional photographer since the late-60's but refuse to carry expensive gear on vacations or weekend trips. The Canon slips into my front pocket; is unobtrusive; and, is sufficiently rugged to endure most environments. The photo quality is very good and the zoom is quick and efficient. Since most of my travel is in Asia where expensive items tend to vanish on occasion, my only concern using this camera is safeguarding the exposed film. The camera, at this price, can easily be replaced. This is a good product. It should serve you well.Customer Review: YES, you can use a tripod with it.

I swear, I couldn't find that info anywhere before I purchased this camera, including Canon's website. It does have one though - screw in type. I've found this little camera to be a catalyst from taking "snapshots" to taking really great family pictures. If you've read Nick Kelsh's book on photographing babies, this camera has everything you need to make them great. Love it so much, I'm buying another one for a friend. And if you have a little one in the house or know someone who does, this would make a great companion gift with Nick Kelsh's book too. Maybe a shower gift from everybody at work??? I bought this camera from Amazon.com during June 2001. We have taken a lot of beautiful pictures with it. We were on a trip last May and our Yashica died, at the end of the trip. I bought this one and after the experience of a camera dying on a trip, I am going to purchase another one from Amazon.com so if one camera dies, we will still have a camera that works properly. We bought the model without the date feature, because it is much more expensive with the date feature.
