So far everything works fine and the picture is great. The 3 speed zoom option is great and all the picture settings are really easy to navigate. They are two cons however with this cam. The first one is the short batt. Life, but I knew that before buying so I got a bigger batt. The other big con is with viewing the LCD screen on the sunny day. Let me warn you, you won't be able to see anything on the LCD, forget about it. It's a major flaw because most of my recording is outside. I'm debating if to return the cam for that specific reason. This camera is well designed and has all the features I need. The only problem is that I can't get the autofocus to work well--the resulting videos do not have the sharpness I would expect from a HD video camera. And while the focus is poor normally, it is especially poor with face tracking turned on. Not sure what to do. I'm surprised that nobody else has complained about this. Cons:
1. Sloppy lurching zoom, Wholly unacceptable at this price point!
2. Battery Life is pathetic, Meter reads: 72 minutes. Actual:less than 30. Yikes!
3. Touch interface is ridiculously complicated and overly sensitive and poorly calibrated!
4. Focus knob does not actully manually focus anything. It's electronic, unreliable, and useless!
5. Would not play nice with THREE different 16GB class[X] SDHC cards. Finally got a 4GB class[II] to work... Go figure.
6. Very expensive for how awful it is.
7. No HDMI cable?! "Come on Canon, this hunk of junk cost nearly $700; include a cable."
8. LCD Screen is 100% useless outside in the sun!!!
9 Getting things done on this camera takes too much time. What ever happened to Actual Manual Controls?
Pros:
1. Very handsome picture quality in "most" lighting conditions
2. External Mic port is a nice touch
