I have used this camcorder several times now (sunlight, overcast and night lights) and I am very pleased with it's features and the quality of video playback on my 28" HD computer monitor as well as 32" and 47" LCD HD TV's. I have used standard MiniDV tapes (not expensive HD tapes) with excellent results. I even tested recording over a previous recording with good results. HD does really look better than real life! I just opened the box up.I must say that everything looked fine.I love doing business with Amazon so far.They are fast and professional.But anywho, everything seems to be in tact. I tried to play with the camera a little bit but the battery was on a very short life.Good to know that the tripod holes are universal, so mine fits just fine. Overall, I just cant wait to start filming!!!!!!!!! Its looks excellent.Thanks to both Canon and Amazon!!!!!!Customer Review: I made the switch to the Canon HV 30 and I'm glad!

Can't really add much new to the already glowing reviews for this camera except to say that I've been making movies with minidv cameras for quite awhile and just switched to the Canon HV 30. At first glance the operation seems similar to my older cameras (which were Sonys and I liked them) but when I downloaded the footage to my computer and watched it on our 47 inch hd tv..... Wow.
Grandchildren look really great in high definition!

Great camera! There's a great website hv20 dot com that show how to get the most out of this camera and answer questions that are vague in the manual. This camera doesn't need more help but there's a lot more you can do than what comes out of the box. The video quality is superb, but the sacrifice is that you might want to buy an add on mic. I got the canon boom mic for another $150 to get a great whole package.Customer Review: Good camera for the price.

I bought this camera as a replacement for a Canon HV20 which had been dropped and broken. The cameras are nearly identical in function and feel. The videos are very high quailty as are the still images. I use this mostly for family videos, football, baseball, etc... Great picture when viewed on a 1080p capable flat screen through the HDMI cable. Overall very pleased with my purchase.
