Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon WP-DC28 Waterproof Case for Canon PowerShot G10 Digital CamerasCustomer Review: Canon G10 waterproof housing review Summary: 4 Stars
The waterproof housing is nicely constructed and a great price for what you get. Taking the strap off the camera is a pain and I didn't see how to use the rotary dial on the camera when it's in the case. In general however I really liked the case. I was expecting more fogging than I got. I used it in the mountains while we were sking.
Customer Review: Waterproof case Summary: 4 Stars
Very good item. I would have put 5 stars if the flood screen had been part of the box. Not a flimbsy detachable thin plastic.
Customer Review: Cool housing Summary: 4 Stars
Haven't had the opportunity to use underwater at this point, is simple to use the buttons to work the camera.
Customer Review: Housing WP-DC28 Summary: 1 Stars
I am very happy with the G10 camera, but have experienced problems with the housing since purchased. Some reviews indicate a problem with the seal which I have not experienced, but the first time I went down to 25 metres, the buttons got stuck and it was impossible to take photographs as the camera seemed to be going through the various programmes with some intent. I thought it was the increased pressure but experienced the same at 15 metres and despite cleaning and servicing, the buttons continue to stick and make it impossible to change settings underwater or even take pictures! It appears as if the springs operating the buttons may be the problem. In addition, the diffuser is very flimsy, falls off too easy and without the support that previous models had around the side, has snapped in half and had to be replaced. It also creates much more shadow than previous cameras with housings we have used. Compared to the Canon housing for the SD700 that I still have, this housing is a big disappointment. I am not alone in experiencing these problems, as another diver also had the WP DC28 diffuser break(this diffuser design seems the same on the housings for the G11 and G12) as well as the sticking buttons which resulted in eventual replacement of that housing. I have however not bothered to replace it yet until I have seen alternatives.
Customer Review: Canon does not provide any warranty coverage! Summary: 1 Stars
I recently received a similar Canon waterproof case and found after the first use the the glass lens cover was permanently fogged thus preventing any further photos. Obviously a manufacturing defect. The glass lens cover is composed of two layers and once fogged cannot be de-fogged or wiped. Canon provided ZERO support for their waterproof cases and should this happen you are completely out of luck!
Their email reply to my request for help:
" Unfortunately the water-proof housings do not come with any kind of
warranty expressed or implied in any way. The manual that comes with
the housing is to be followed in performing maintenance on the water
proof housing and is strictly up to the user to comply with the
procedures in the manual.
I am sorry for the inconvenience, but we cannot provide you with
any real assistance with this matter.
Sincerely,
Technical Support Representative"
