Customer Review: A great camera with a small improvement possible

As someone who has cameras ranging from a professional Sony EX1 to a Sony MC50 this camera is the one which I am currently using the most.
What's NOT good first:-
The stabilisation is excellent, far better than most cameras, but after you have seen the Sony MC50's "active" stabilisation you may feel a little disappointed.The Sony MC50 has a form of stabilisation which makes images appear to float and gives you a "virtual" steady cam effect. The Canon does a very good job and you don't actually notice it doing it (which some may like)but you don't get the same floating effect. The number of stabilisation modes and the fact that one can be switched on and off from a switch at the back of the camera while the other types are settings on a menu is confusing at the very least. - IMO.
The Automatic ND filters kick in when you don't expect them during filming and result in the picture dropping a level of brightness for a fraction of a second. Maybe you just have to set it to manual to overcome this but a firmware change which prevented this happening mid filming would be my choice.
I like being able to change absolutely everything but why can't Canon pre-config a few more profiles. You get two cine profiles and a flat screen TV profile so why not fill all the profile slots with settings recommended by experts - allow normal users to edit, overwrite or add to them but to be honest with so many options ordinary users don't have a clue what will give the best results for a sunny day, night shots etc etc . Maybe Canon could setup a few great profiles and allow them to be downloaded on to the SD card ( used only for settings ).
Why does this camera have a lens cap ! - surely this is something that should have been left in the 1980's.
But on the plus side
This is a totally professional camera in a package smaller than most consumer cameras of a few years back gives stunning video, total control, easy to carry, well made and will not disappoint the vast majority of purchasers.
