I have used the fax, print and copy functions, but not the scan function. The performance is great, especially the ability to copy 2-sided. Speed is good and print quality is high. This product uses black ink only. This is one of the main benefits to me since I do not print in color and did not want to mess with color cartridges. However, according to the literature, you can scan in color. One inconvenience is that the provided guide covers only the basic uses. For other uses, you have to refer to the guide that becomes installed on your PC when you run the installation CD. I bought this Canon MF4150 printer after my thirteen-year-old HP 4L bit the dust. The Canon MF4150 works great. You will need to purchase your own USB cable, but once you hook it up, you'll probably like this printer. It is fast, and the print quality is excellent. The copier also works great, as does the automatic feeder. Setup is quick too. The menus are pretty easy to navigate when setting this up. Replacement toner cartridges are a little pricey, but there should be some good deals out there on refurbished toner cartridges. All-in-all, this seems to be a good printer, offering good value.Customer Review: Buy it! Trust me.

I just sold my Brother HL-2040 (23ppm, single sided printer) to a friend and bought this one. After about 2 hrs of visiting 2 local office depots and researching online, I bought this.
Things I discovered about this printer.
-Extremely fast
-Quiet
-Double sided printing (duplex printing)
-ALL in one
-Best priced ALL-IN-ONE in this category.
-Laser printer
-Easy to shop/replace cartridge (toner and drum unit can be replaced as one unit)
-Very Heavy (you're not gonna carry this with you on a trip, are you???)

We got this item for a few reasons:
1. scanner for the kids' artwork
2. duplex copy/print capability
3. rare fax use
So far we have used it for reasons (1) and (2) and it has worked very well. It was incredibly easy to set up the unit, "quick start" guide is easy to follow.
Scanning software has also worked well. We've scanned directly to both PDF and JPG files using the ADF without any trouble. Color seems to be good on the images.
Copier/print capabilities work as expected.
Would definitely buy this product again!

I really needed a versatile printer/scanner and bought this unit, based on the positive reviews. Although I don't use the fax portion (no need), I am delighted with the printer/copier/scanner functions. The supporting documentation is substantial, so you have plenty of guidance for any questions. The drivers installed easily into my Windows XP PC, and best of all is the Canon Toolbox software which lets me scan files to JPEG, or PDF, or even do an OCR conversion using the included Scansoft software. It also has a very small desk footprint. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit.
