I got this machine to do everything - fax, duplex copying, duplex printing, scanning. I needed to find a job and this machine helped me get everything done. Printing and faxing resumes, copying no problem. The quality is very good. The cartridges last over 2000 copies. I've had the machine now for 7 months and it's been one of the investments to date. This is my first laser printer for the home office. I have had a string of inkjet printers that mostly quit or worked poorly after a year.
This is a fairly compact for a Multi-function machine.
I have only used it a few times but the copy, print and fax functions work great. The cost is very reasonable. I like that it is a Canon, as they make great digital cameras.

This machine replaced two copiers and two fax machines in our office that were over five years old. The speed and simplicity of operation were far superior to anything that we had used before and there have been no problems with the equipment since it was put into operation about three months ago. I've had it about a month now... works great. Copies, prints, and scans are quick and clean. The duplex mode is fast. You have to look for it, but there is an "econo-toner" mode you can set up as default. Also, the unit falls into an "energy-saver" state when it is not in use (just takes hardly a second to wake up). Excellent for college bound student or for home use. I gave up on inkjet
printers because of their tendency to dry up. I use printer for home use that does not require much activity but like to have the capability when needed for copying, faxing or printing.
It was easy to set up and hope that it will work through out my schooling for PhD.
