Customer Review: Excellent printer for the money

I purchased the Cannon imageClass MF4150 Laser about a month ago mainly for the printer (vs. scan, fax, and copy). No problem with the Vista set-up; install the Vista-CD (they also include one for XP) and follow the prompts. One thing, after installation it defaulted to the scanner - rather than the printer - until I played with the settings. Then, fast, clean copies.
NOTE: Don't ask me why, but it doesn't come with a USB wire (which connects computer to printer), so order that separately. I got the "Tripp Lite USB 2.0, 6ft" ($8) at Amazon when I ordered the printer - so it also came (fast!) with free delivery.
PS. I'm glad I read these reviews "before" I ordered the printer, or I would have been hopping mad to discover no USB in the box. On the other hand, who am I to question the machinations and intrigues of massive international traders.

After 30-plus days of use, the Canon MF4150 gets 5 stars! It's fast; very quiet; it duplexes; not one paper jam after hundreds of copies; it simply works as advertised! (Full disclosure: I haven't used the fax because I have no need of it.) But do you know what really sold me? The combination of great technology design and customer support! You can own something that is purported to be the best-of-the-best, but if you have a question and the manufacturer's 'support' folks can't explain/fix something, well, it's just another boat anchor. I've phoned Canon three times (their 'tech' people were in Virginia--that's the USofA folks!) and each time the question/issue was resolved, including the 'fix' for printing inside of Quicken 2007! They were professional, knowledgeable, but at the same time, friendly and personable. Buy this printer! You shouldn't be disappointed!!Customer Review: GREAT work horse of a machine!!

The only negative I could even possibly come up with on this machine is that when it's in resting mode and I need to photo copy a paper I have to press the energy saver button before pressing the copy button. I would think just pressing the copy button would bring it out of resting mode. However, that is such a minor "problem" when I realized what a great machine this is. It's fast, easy to set up, and is worth every penny. Can't go wrong with this machine if you don't need color.
One other minor "problem" is that when I went to print from Quicken software I found out that Quicken will not print to any printer that has "on" in it's name....Can"on".....so I've had to hassle with renaming my printer Can instead of Canon to make it work. I do feel this is a Quicken issue so it's hard to hold the Canon accountable for it.

I was shopping around for a general purpose laser printer to replace an older HP Laserjet for a home office and did a lot of research between the Brothers, HP, and Canon printers. The Canon MF4150 has the benefit of dual sided printing and it's very fast. Combined with the copier, fax, and scanning capabilities, I think the price I paid on Amazone with free shipping and no tax was the best value (bought in Feb 07).
The first page comes out within a few seconds after powering on the unit and the double sided printing works really well. The copier feature is great with the sheet feeder so you don't have to lift the cover for each individual sheet like some of the other products in its price range.
After using it for about a month, I'd highly recommend this printer. Hope this helps your decision.
